Buttcrack: Written and Directed by Jim Larsen
Buttcrack, from Troma Entertainment, tells the story of Brian and Wade, college roommates renting a house together in some remote area in Virginia. Brian has a problem. And that problem’s name is Wade. You see, Wade is incredibly annoying. He is always underfoot, always singing a song in his gravely, cringe-inducing voice, and worst of all, his buttcrack is always exposed out the top of his pants. Brian can’t even get a moment alone with Annie, his girlfriend, so he can propose marriage. What’s poor Brian to do?
Just as Frodo had Sam, Brian has his best friend, Ken. Ken has Brian’s back. He offers to get Wade out of his way for the afternoon by taking him to a movie, so Brian can pop that big question to Annie. The plan is going along just fine until Wade mistakes Ken’s friendly conversation for a homosexual come-on, prompting him to bail on him enroute to the theater.
Buttcrack’s Sister
Wade’s intrusion on Brian was just too much for the poor boy to take. In a moment of anger, he “accidentally” kills Wade by dropping a radio in the bathtub with him, unleashing the fury of his sister, a practitioner of dark magic whereby she puts a spell on Wade to come back to life as a zombie- but not just any ordinary zombie. Wade’s curse is that if anybody looks at his buttcrack, they too will become zombies.
Preacher Man Bob
Preacher Man Bob, played by rock and roll legend, Mojo Nixon, does what he can to set right all that went wrong with the buttcrack curse of Wade. But there is only so much a preacher man with a shotgun can do, as Wade just won’t stay dead.
Buttcrack Inspiration
The movie Buttcrack was inspired by a real life buttcrack. Writer/director was a student living in a dormitory at Montana State University from 1988 to 1990. While there, he encountered a fellow dorm resident whose habit of not keeping his pants pulled up made Jim Larsen say to himself, “Somebody ought to make a movie about this guy, and call it ‘Buttcrack.’ And that person ought to be me. So a few years later, he did.
